B.A.P. Live On Earth Toronto 2016 Concert

I can finally check off something from my bucket list... "Attending a Kpop Concert"!!!

I was lucky enough to be able to go to the B.A.P. Live On Earth Concert in Toronto!!

I was so pumped and excited leading up to it! The concert was on Sunday (April 24, 2016) but I still can't get over how AWESOME the concert was. I have serious post-concert depression! I took a bunch of pictures and videos for safe keeping haha

The concert was AMAZING! It was like a 2 hour party with B.A.P! They interacted with the crowd and made an effort to speak English (it was adorable ^^). I wasn't lucky enough to win a Hi-touch (so sad about that) but just being able to attend their concert was a blessing!

I was able to get an official B.A.P. towel, official concert wristbands, and a signed Carnival album by Yongguk!

Daehyun, Yongguk, Zelo, Himchan, Youngjae, Jongup... you guys have a special place in my heart! I really hope you guys come back to Toronto for another concert in the future! I will definitely come to it!

Check out some of the performances from the Live On Earth Concert in Toronto!! (My bad singing and intense fangirl screaming were caught in some of the videos and I'm too embarrassed to share them but the ones below aren't too bad hehe)

We were lit! Toronto was lit!

PLOT SUMMARY:

MAIN CAST:

Yoo Seung Ho as Seo Jin Woo

Park Sung Woong as Park Dong Ho

Park Min Young as Lee In Ah

Nam Gung Min as Nam Gyu Man

RATING:
5 out of 5

That's right 5 law books out of 5! I can see why this drama had such good responses!

PERSONAL THOUGHTS:

The powerful vs. the powerless.

This Easter weekend I settled for a legal thriller. These types of dramas are also one of my favourite genres. I very much enjoyed this drama especially the story-line and character development. The idea and the way it was executed was very well done.

Side note though, I feel like the plot would make the perfect movie.

Actors, Actresses:

Yoo Seung Ho - I remember him from "Missing You" and Mr. Jade Emperor from "Arang and the Magistrate". I have no complains about him because I know he's a good actor. Props to all his crying scenes, it must have been hard. The scenes where he has his temporary memory loss was done really well too. I'm still in denial that he's a year younger than me... he can't be a 93er. Still in denial and can someone tell me why he's called Little Si Ji Sub? They don't really resemble each other in my opinion.

Park Min Young - I've watched "City Hunter" a long time ago but the most recent drama I've seen her in was "Healer". I'm sorry but I still ship you with Ji Chang Wook. Maybe because there wasn't such an emphasis of your relationship with Yoo Seung Ho (which I'm totally okay with) but I still can't get over Healer couple! Comparing the two characters though, I feel like I like her character in "Remember" better than in "Healer".

Nam Gung Min - makes one hell of a psychopath. I only knew about him from We Got Married. I haven't seen him in anything else but wow...just wow. He's a really good actor. He makes a good evil character!

Plot, Characters:

Talk about betrayal to the max! I hate to say it but would it be that far from reality? Money can make people twist what they think is morally right, especially if a) they're desperate for power and money or b) when family is involved. I feel like this story is pretty realistic (to some extent). I'm sure we've all heard of similar stories of people manipulating the law and getting away with things because they have money. I feel like in our society the idea of money equals power is true in some ways.

I felt that the characters were developed really well. This was due to both the actors and actresses and the story-line. The pity you feel for both Seo Jae Hyuk and Seo Jin Woo was done just right. It was just good okay! :p The idea of memory loss is a heartbreaking idea.

One thing that surprised me a bit, which was a positive thing, was that there wasn't much focus on the relationship between Lee In Ah and Seo Jin Woo. Their love-line developed more in the last 5 or 6 episodes. This was a nice change for once. The focus of the story was actually on the case and Seo Jin Woo and not the love-line. I give this a thumbs up.

We've got to talk about the ending. Of course there were some predictable aspects of the ending; bad guys get what they deserve and everything works out for the good characters. Although Nam Gyu Man deserved what he got, you can't help but feel pity for him. He gets abandoned by, not only his followers, but also his dad. This leads to his suicide which is kind of sad. I usually don't like open ended endings but I'll let this one pass this time. There is some ambiguity for the relationship between Seo Jin Woo and Lee In Ah. Does he remember her or does he not? Why is she following him at the end? Does he not notice it? If he pretending? What does him not remembering the ring mean? I don't know... I hope to think that he might actually remember their happy memories. What do you think?!

Favourite Quote:

"The truth does not speak for itself...So I'm going to make it happen."

This quote says it all. Seo Jin Woo repeats this numerous times throughout the drama. This quote is basically the essence of the drama.

Sub-main Cast

Henry Lau as Kim Ji Woong, Mr. Cutie-pie

RATING:
4 Band-aids out of 5

PERSONAL THOUGHTS:

Ah yes, I know. Another Rom-Com! Sorry but I think I'm into Rom-Com themed dramas lately... and binge watching (I finished this drama in a couple of days). Since I recently finished "She Was Pretty", I was a bit worried that there would be many similarities in the plot and characters from "Oh My Venus". Although they have some similarities, they also have many differences so one can't really compare the two dramas. (They're both awesome Rom-Com dramas though!)

Actors, Actresses, Characters: Am I the only one that wants to give Mr. Muscle and Mr. Cutie-pie a big hug! haha I really like the chemistry between Mr. Muscle, Mr. Cutie-pie, Mr. Coach, and Shin Min Ah. It reminds me a little bit of the relationship that Park Ha (Han Ji Min) had with Prince Lee Gak (Park Yoo Chun) and his entourage in "Rooftop Prince". These characters provided the comic relief in the drama as well as helped with the character development, except for Kim Ji Woong. There wasn't really any back story done on Kim Ji Woong's character which was a pity.

I think Shin Min Ah is a pretty good actress. I've only seen her in "My Girlfriend is a nine-tailed Fox" with Lee Seung Gi and "Arang and the Magistrate" with Lee Jun Ki and she was pretty good in those. I'm not really familiar with So Ji Sub. I did recongize him from "Masters of Sun" but I've only seen a little bit of that drama. He (no hate) appeared to be a bit old at first but his chemistry with Shin Min Ah made up for that.

We need to talk a little about Sung Hoon and Henry. I've only recently gotten into the show "Our Neighborhood Arts and Physical Education" (JUDO!!), but I wish I watched more of the previous sport, swimming. I didn't know Sung Hoon was part of the team, but since he use to swim professionally I'm not surprised he was invited to be on the show. When I heard Henry was going to be acting in "Oh My Venus" I was a bit worried about his acting. I think he sometimes over exaggerates a bit (no hate I love Henry) but overall it wasn't too bad so it was a good starting point for him.

Plot: Car crash, cheesy proposal, cancer, awesome couple chemistry... what more can you ask for in a Korean rom-com? Don't we all wish we can lose weight and turn into someone's Oh My Venus? (and snag a handsome and rich guy along the way - Heck Yeah!)

Hmm.. I liked the contrast between the characters Kang Joo Eun and Oh Soo Jin. One "had beauty" but "lost" it and the other "didn't have beauty" but "gained" it. By using these two characters, we were able to understand that we all have different kinds of beauty and what we have in the inside is more important than what our appearance is. The only thing I was kind of "ehh" about was how much hatred Oh Soo Jin had for Kang Joo Eun. I understand the misunderstandings were pretty cruel in her perspective but getting revenge by dating Im Woo Shik behind her back...I don't know... Oh Soo Jin did say she didn't seduce Im Woo Shik first so I guess  it wasn't all her fault...

Ah the "male character gets into a car crash" cliche. I give it a minus 1 for the cliche but a plus 0.5 since Kim Young Ho did it to protect his friend, Jang Joon Sung. It's usually the female main character which is in the car and the male character gets into a car crash because of her so that point deserves a plus 0.5 :)

I feel like they could have ended the drama at episode 14 or combining episode 15 and 16 into one. Although I didn't mind seeing the proposal and meeting of the family, I thought that the last two episodes kind of dragged on especially with the 5-10 min recap at the beginning of the episodes and the continuous recaps throughout the episodes.

The ending... "main characters met when they were a child and did something symbolic from the drama" cliche. Cute ^^ ❤︎

One of My Favourite ScenesThe Ending! Too Cute! ❤︎
Twins!!! Kim Young Ho give Kang Joo Eun a break, she's carrying twins!! haha
Yeah, Kim Ji Woong and Jang Joon Sung are going to be uncles!!

Favourite Quote:
Kim Young Ho's dialogue in Episode 9

From the time I was young
until I grew up...
and even after I'd grown...

I've spent most of my days in hospitals.
When you're a long-term patient
at a hospital, you realize...
the fact that there are
so many people in pain in this world.

Because everyone is in pain, either
a lot or a little, in their own way.
So, don't cry. Everyone lives on
through enduring their own burdens.

PLOT SUMMARY:
"A romantic comedy about two past acquaintances who meet again after they've gone through a reversal of fortunes and appearances, set in the backdrop of a fashion magazine's publishing office.

Ashamed to meet her first love and ruin his perception of her, Hye-jin asks her attractive best friend, Ha-ri, to appear in her place. Things, however, soon get complicated as Hye-jin was assigned to work at The Most magazine publishing office where Sung-joon is the deputy chief editor. MAIN CAST:

Hwang Jung Eum as Kim Hye Jin
Park Seo Joon as Ji Sung Joon
Go Joon Hee as Min Ha Ri
Choi Siwon as Kim Shin Hyuk

RATING:

☂☂☂☂    4 red umbrellas out of 5

PERSONAL THOUGHTS:

I just finished watching this drama and I personally give it a thumbs up! After watching it I can see why this drama was so popular.

Actors and Actresses: I really liked the chemistry between Hwang Jung Eum and Park Seo Joon. I think Hwang Jung Eum, Park Seo Joon, Go Joon Hee and Siwon all did an awesome job on portraying their characters. It was a nice surprise since I haven't seen most of the dramas they have starred in other than Park Seo Joon and Siwon. I also liked the little bro-mance Park Seo Joon and Siwon had in the drama too.

The first drama I saw Park Seo Joon was in Dream High 2 which I didn't even realize until I looked him up (no wonder he looked really familiar). He sure has grown up. I guess Sung Joon forgot all the vocal training he got from Dream High. haha

I've only heard of Hwang Jung Eum and Go Joon Hee from We Got Married where they were paired up with Kim Yong Jun and 2AM's Jinwoon, respectively. I know they are both popular and good actresses so thumbs up!

Plot: I believe we all go through something similar to what Kim Hye Jin experienced. Meeting your first love after many years and realizing that you might not live up to their expectations. To be embarrassed about how you've changed and/or grown up is quite realistic. Though this is a drama, so of course everything works out at the end with Hye Jin and Sung Joon ❤️. Plus Hye Jin's character is overly nice so forgiving Ha Ri at the end was inevitable.

One thing I liked about the drama was that Kim Hye Jin didn't stay "pretty" till the end. After leaving Most Korea her appearance revered back to her old self, no make up or straightened hair, with minor changes to her outfits which is taken from her new self. It seems like after leaving Most Korea, her character changes into an upgraded version of herself; a combination between her old and new self. People learn and grow to like her inner qualities, other than her appearance, and I think she herself does too.

One of My Favourite Scenes: Not sure why but the ending where Sung Joon walks with their daughter, Yeon Woo, was really cute.

Favourite Quote: Kim Hye Jin's dialogue at the end of the drama.

"One Day, I started thinking about something. I started thinking that main characters were not only in dramas or movies. In reality too, there are people who live like the main characters, and some who live as supporting characters...

But now, I have this thought. Maybe it was me who decided that I was one of the supporting characters. Giving up so easily by letting life dictate your path, wasn't it I who turned off the spotlight that was shining down on me...

People often say that life is not a fairy-tale. But sometimes like a child, and sometimes like a fool, how about dreaming of a life that's like a fairy-tale?

If you don't turn off the spotlight, and you don't give up on your dream, maybe then, something that's even more fairy tale-like than a fairy-tale might happen.

Such as, the first love that was thought to never come true comes true, or a childhood dream which was pushed aside into your distant memory comes true. Miracle-like things could really happen."
